Rising star Hudson Loverro has been cast in the title role of Trevor, a new musical based on the Academy Award-winning short film of the same name. The previously announced production, directed by Marc Bruni and choreographed by Joshua Prince, will begin previews on April 7 and open on April 21 at off-Broadway's Stage 42.
Loverro has appeared on Broadway as Billy in School of Rock and Young Calogero in A Bronx Tale. He has also been seen on tour as Young Charlie in Kinky Boots.
Joining Loverro in the Trevor cast will be Mark Aguirre, Ava Briglia, Sidney Dupont, Ellie Kim, Yale Langworthy, Mateo Lizcano, Luke Mannikus, Alyssa Emily Marvin, Luke Naphat, Zachary Podair, Brandi Porter, Dan Rosales, Isabella Russo, Yasmeen Sulieman, Afra Sophia Tully, Joshua Turchin, Sally Wilfert and Jarrod Zimmerman.
Based on an original story by James Lecesne and featuring a book and lyrics by Dan Collins and music by Julianne Wick Davis, the show follows 13-year-old Trevor (Loverro), a force of nature with a vivid imagination, as he deals with becoming a teenager and navigating his own identity.
The nonprofit Trevor Project, the nation's only accredited crisis intervention and suicide prevention organization focused on saving LGBTQ lives, was created as a result of the Trevor film.
